How We Began

- Eastern Sky Theatre Company began with a hand full of professional actors and writers that joined together to perform Christ centered pieces. This small group was given a name in 1993: The Arts Prophetically Speaking Ministry (TAPS). Under the leadership of Pastor Mel Ayres, TAPS was used to present Biblically based illustrations to general public and church audiences.

- In 1997, Trey Fernald was appointed the head of The Arts Prophetically Speaking. In the last decade, TAPS has led over 3,000 people to Christ through professional plays, sketches, human videos, dance pieces, & outreach. The team grew from a select “hand full” to 60 members.

- On an international level, TAPS members have had the privilege of performing overseas in Thailand, the Philippines, South Korea, India, as well as Canada & Mexico. TAPS appeared on Trinity Broadcast Network in 1999 & 2001. Leaders of TAPS have trained missionary teams to perform in countries such as Fiji & Thailand where thousands of people were led to Christ.

- In 2001, TAPS created a separate dance ministry team to expand their impact. Trey Fernald appointed professional choreographers Tymme & Aury Reitz over TAPS Dance Ministry. TAPS dancers now conduct their own “underground” hip hop service at In His Presence Church in Woodland Hills, Ca. Pastors Tymme & Aury have since been featured in Charisma Magazine as well as the 700 Club TV program on ABC Family.

- Before forming a professional theatre company, this high impact group produced 9 hit plays that have been used to win thousands of people to Christ: Eternal Options, Final Call, Uncommon Pardon, Blind Analysis, More Than A Cause, I Can Only Imagine, Crossing The Lines, 6 Good Reasons, & The Last Appeal. Along with full length plays, TAPS has also produced six 1-act plays that continue to impact Los Angeles County residents.

- TAPS members have made the seamless transition into the Eastern Sky Theatre Company where professional plays, comedies, & musicals are the team’s central focus.

History

- Eastern Sky offers audiences the same entertainment value of a Broadway production while carrying the spiritual impact of a solid ministry. Our company is a multi-culture and intergenerational group of outstanding writers, actors and dancers who are dedicated to artistic excellence and sharing the gospel. Our theatre company members have performed on Broadway and television is such notable productions as Hair Spray, Lion King, Smokey Joes Café, Aida, Without a Trace, CSI and Hannah Montana. The company’s amazing line up of talent helps to make each production exciting, relatable & power.

- In 2008 Eastern Sky Theatre Company produced the full length drama Heaven’s Courtroom to overflow audiences. Once again we celebrated the numerous salvations that resulted from this show. In addition, the company performed Soap Spoof Musical and Corporate America Rock at Los Angeles based ministry conferences to enthusiastic crowds.
