Director's Biography  

Trey Fernald, Artistic Director

Trey Fernald is the founder & current Artistic Director of the Eastern Sky Theatre Company in West San Fernando Valley, California. With over 28 years of writing, directing, acting & production experience, Trey brings an exciting approach to the development of full length plays, comedies, & musicals. Mr. Fernald has worked on shows such as NBC’s “The Unexplained”, Fox Network’s “The Power Rangers”, along with hit plays such as “Dangerous Liaisons”. Before his career in television & theatre, Trey received a Bachelor of Arts degree at Chapman University where he was able to study theatre abroad in London, England. His “hands-on” college education included performing summer stock plays at The Grove Shakespeare Festival & Gem Theatre in Orange County, California.

Last winter, Trey directed the nationally renowned Jesus musical “The Miracle”, an 8 million dollar production in East Tennessee that features some of the best young talent on the East coast.

Before His ordination into ministry (in 1997), Trey produced & directed the hit sketch comedy show “You’re Soaking In It” at the Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena, California. After his ordination, Trey had the pleasure of writing & co-producing television commercials for Phil Cooke Pictures in Burbank, California (in 2002).

In 2003, Trey was appointed Executive Pastor of Communications at In His Presence Church in Woodland Hills (Warner Center), Ca. It is here that he founded The Arts Prophetically Speaking (TAPS) Dance Ministry & built up the existing TAPS Drama Ministry. Through various plays, sketches, dance pieces, live illustrations, & outreach, TAPS has led well over 3,000 souls to Christ. Along with productions for the general public, Trey has taken artists into juvenile hall to lead Hundreds of inmates to Christ through live drama.

For the past two years, Trey Fernald has been a columnist for Vision On Demand (Webzine) Magazine where he has written articles on how to successfully manage the performing arts in church.

With a call to present exciting, entertaining, & powerful evangelistic plays in Los Angeles, Trey’s shows have rivaled secular, equity theatres in Los Angeles with productions such as “Crossing The Lines”, “The Last Appeal”, & “Uncommon Pardon”. In 2005, he was featured in Today Magazine for his work in stage production.

Before launching the Eastern Sky Theatre Company, Trey founded the IHPC School of The Arts where seasoned professionals taught courses such as acting 101, comedic improvisation, acting for the camera I & II, stand up comedy, screen writing, the entertainment business 101, and hip hop dance. The school now focuses solely on annual workshops for young screen writers & actors throughout the United States.

Trey Fernald is a recipient of the annual Halo Award, presented by the Southern California Motion Picture Council for his outstanding achievements in entertainment. Trey Fernald currently resides in North Los Angeles County.
